Is the festival the last Saturday in April from 12:00 to 2:00? Will there be a 2017 April dachshund fiesta? We just lost one of our mini dachsies and are looking for a new one. Preferably two years old, mini, male and blond. Please contact: jane@dystel.com I have a wonderful Doxie and am looking for a co-parent. I'm a flight attendant and have to travel for 3-4 day stretches. Zephyr is good with a single female, doesn't mess in the home nor chew on things. He loves to cuddle and snuggle. I would provide his food and bedding etc. If you'd like a dog on a part-time basis this is the perfect situation. Please email me at neciaonline@gmail.com. Thanks! 9/30/2016: Will there be an October Festival in Washington Square Park this year? Is this website still active? Thanks. Hi! Are you guys gonna have a dachshund festival in October 2016 at Washington Sq Park?! Are there any dachsund events on Long Island? Hi, I have to travel for work and am looking for someone interested in fostering him while I'm away. He's adorable, had all shots and is best in single person household with or without another Doxie. If interested please contact neciaonline@gmail.com. Thanks! Hello Dachs Friends, I had a fun time at the NYC 2016 Annual Dacshund Spring Festival, April 30, 2016 held at Washington Square Park. I sent many photos I took to a friend who lives in Seal Beach, CA. He responded with ingo that you may be interested in exploring for your 2017 NYC festival: "People love their Dachshunds. Here in Seal Beach, we have the annual Wienerschnitzel Wiener Nationals at the local racetrack. Benefits the Seal Beach Animal Care Center. $1,000 prize to the fastest Doxie. http://www.losalamitos.com/wienernationals/wdefault.aspx?pn=1 Regards, Michael Zullo East Midtown Manhattan Is the Dachshund Spring Fiesta happening next Saturday, on the 30th? Are there vendors during the Spring Fiesta 2013 event or is only a gathering of doxies and there parents. Coming to N.Y. first of October and interested in being there for the Dachshund October Festival in Washington Park. Is that still on the first Saturday of October 2016? Thank you. Sylvia I was considering adopting from Wanda's little rescue This was the rudest unprofessional person I have ever delt with, I bought a registered one from a breeder, very high standing place. I wrote Wanda and told her I had bought one, and would not be adopting and thanked her for her help. This is what she wrote me back Great!!! Got to love them breeders may they rot in hell. Have rehomed a few beautiful piebalds and dapples $300.00 ALL DAY LONG> we have have ten applications on Babe we are not worried about her finding a home, I was shocked when she sent me this email. It really makes me wonder what type of business she runs. I would not adopt anything she had, if you are looking to adopt a pet DO NOT GO TO Wanda's little rescue ASK GOOCH by Susan Lee Grant, new children's book about a Dachshund being bullied and her journey of kindness and compassion. Available on Amazon.com Want to upload image but cannot see how. Thanks. i am looking for a breeder of blue and tan dachshunds in the greater NY region. Can anyone recommend a breeder or know of an upcoming litter for adoption? Can anyone recommend a good source for a decent lobster costume for a 14 lb tweenie? Thanks in advance! Toby's mom. Is there a rain for the October 3rd 2015 meeting? Will there be a rain date for the fest on Oct 3 or will it be held in the rain regardless? I know it's been a while since Robin Gianopoulos passed away but I wanted to comment about what a wonderful woman she was. I have one of her wonderful red smoothies his name is Duke and toy boy was his father. He is the most terrific little boy. The smartest, funniest best behaved Doxie bee have ever been owned by. Robin was a genius at breeding. I miss her. Hi Dachshund Lovers, my name is Andy Higgins, I am an art and sculpture collector in New Zealand and I have an offering I want to sell internationally to a Dachshund lover. This collection is from artist Ivan Clark who has been developing his brand "Lonely Dog" for the past ten years. The Lonely Dog is an amazing story and concept that delight animal lovers, cat and dogs alike. My URL has links that introduces the artist and the future plans of Lonely Dog the brand and the movie franshise. We want this collection to go to a Dachshund or dog lover who will appreciate this masterful work. Please feel free to email me for more information. At first, he was diagnosed with pneumonia after 4 days in the hospital. He came home and went downhill drastically quick, and by Monday night his lungs had completely filled with fluid and it was looking like we would lose him. Thanks to the wonderful cardiologist, medical director, and ICU at the AMC, after 6 days more in the ICU in an oxygen tank, he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension and nursed back to health. He is home now, and seems to be responding well to the medications. His breathing is back to 'normal', as he takes 4 different medications daily. Any help you can give by sharing his page in your networks or groups, or even the smallest donation will help. His medical bills were almost $13,000, so I am trying to raise some of it. If you share in your networks, it sometimes works better if you share right from the GoFundMe page and write a little story about him. Thank you all so much for your support. http://www.gofundme.com/a23u3u8np8 anyone in long island want to mate your female dog with mine >

I've just found your website and would like to extend a Rocky Mountain hi from Flickennel, Colorado Dachshunds with ALTITUDE!!! If you're looking for a wonderful new wienerdog friend and family member, look no further than http://www.flickennel.com, where we have more dachshund coats, colors and patterns than most people know exist! From the smallest mini to the larger tweenie sizes, you'll be pleased with the terrific assortment we offer. We breed for great temperaments and wonderful conformation, and are well-known for our dogs' intelligence and affectionate natures.

We have shown some of our finest dogs in the past, but today most of our true 'finest' are the dogs we place in the hands, hearts and homes of America's finest, our active-duty military and veterans. We are also placing therapy and service dogs with folks who have various health issues and require dogs who are intimately attuned to them and their needs.

Our dogs are raised in our home according to AKC and Colorado Dept. of Agriculture standards, not in a separate kennel building, so they're used to the sights, sounds and smells of a home. They're all handled every day, kept as clean and healthy as possible - it's our home, too! Our facility is out in the country, in Colorado's Wet Mountains, at an elevation of around 8,300 feet, so our doxies are accustomed to rural life and the fresh pine-scented air.

We've been raising dachshunds for over 45 years (since 1969!) and are still doing it, so we must be doing it right.

We are located in the Wet Mountains of Colorado, but we ship our dachshunds all over the United States. We also have dogs in Australia, where they were the very first of the dilute-colored blue and isabella dogs, besides the exotic mottled- and reverse-dapple patterns for which we are known. Other Flickennel dachshunds reside in Denmark, Germany and Canada, and one little chocolate & tan girl is serving in Africa with her missionary family! Wherever you are, chances are excellent that we can get one or more of our dogs to you. Foreign shipping requires a lot of red tape and extra time and expense for vaccinations, titer tests, etc., but our customers tell us it's worth it. They love their unique Flickennel dachshunds!

North, south, east or west - Flickennel Dachshunds are the BEST! Check out our website at www.flickennel.com, email flickennel@hotmail.com, or call 719-783-2955 - we're always happy to talk about our dachshunds!

Hi: I am looking to adopt my second dachshund (my beloved Blue died a couple of years ago at the age of 15). I have looked into rescue groups but really want to start with a little puppy. Can anyone recommend a reputable dachshund breeder? I am looking for a smooth-haired miniature. Any help is much appreciated -- thank you in advance!!! Cynthia C in NYC

do you have an article about Jeff Levy, DVM and his dachshund Mushroom.

this will seem like an off question but the picture of the badgers at war (17 standing on a rock)
who painted that painting and do you know it's name or where one could buy a copy

Does anyone know if pictures from the Fiesta are posted anywhere? Can we post pics from the Fiesta ourselves somewhere?

Hi, Does anyone here in the NYC area have, of know of someone who has a doxie "wheel chair"/wheels that they want to sell or pass on to a doxie & doxie mom in need? I've gotten to the point where I think my 14 yr old baby will benefit from this so that he can continue to go on short walks with me and I won't have to carry him everywhere I take him. I want his senior yrs to be more active as he's as healthy as can be otherwise. He can still run and chase the ball in the apartment even (in a sort of 3 legged way), and make his way around in front of my building to go potty, but otherwise, we are carrying him. He had IVDD & surgery to correct (successfully) 9 yrs ago but now that arthritis is also setting in, it's hitting him in a different way this time around. We've tried cold lazer and adequan and acupuncture too but those therapies have only stabilized him, and he's not improving. Please let me know if you can help by offering up wheels that you no longer need. Thanks, Carolyn

Does anyone have a suggestion for July 4th - my daschund was so upset last year even with a tranquilizer and in the basement with music on.

Dear Adriane,
Fred came into our lives from a shelter in 1999. He had been part of our family until recently. He enjoyed going to the Doxie Fest. He had back surgery a number of years ago, which made it very difficult for him to walk. He also had a number of illnesses which were controlled with medication. We looked forward to bringing him to the Spring Fest, but he is in doggie heaven now. We will miss him.

Please accept my condolences for the passing of Paul. I do remember him and his music.

There is no info on this site from Dachshund FRiendship club regarding this years spring fiesta. However , The Washington Square Park website lists as Sat 4/25 from 12-2

I am still confused by the multiple dates on the website. Is the event on Saturday April 25th from 12-2; and is the rain date Sunday the 26th?

when is the april meeting in washington sq park?

Hi Adrian! Steven Gournay here, 2000 brought us Tommy, visiting you one holiday afternoon Alias Thomas J. Wigglepants, now a sturdy but myopic 15 year old, is in the care of my ex, Karen, and 2 years ago I became the proud papa of a 2 year old rescue named Walter, "Prince Walter von Sturm & Drang", we live in a sunny studio up in Washington Heights, and he is an utter charmer — longhair red mix with black and tan, and he howls when I sing along with Callas "Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix." On pitch, of course. Would love to know the Spring Festival date, as it is listed here as the 27th of April, which is a Monday, so I think you might mean the 26th? Thanks. heartofnests@gmail.com

When is the 2015 spring event in wash sq park?

Hi so is the dachshund festival in April happening this year?? my puppy wants to come!

What is the date for this year (2015)'s Dachshund Fiesta/Parade in Washington Square Park? I've seen conflicting dates online. Thanks!

Hi. I wanted to tell everyone that I am running a Dachshund race on March 7th and 8th at the Long Island Pet Expo in hopes to raise money for local Dachshund rescues. I am looking for entries for the race so please share this information. You can find out more information at facebook.com/longislanddachshundderby or you can email me directly at lidachshundderby@yahoo.com

Thinking ahead to this year's spring event.
What date is proposed at this time? thanbks.

Hi
I recently got a puppy and I need to organise him a playdate, he is fully vaccinated and super friendly. We live on the Upper West Side, so if anyone has a dachshund and up for some socializing please contact me.
You can contact via his page www.facebook.com/frankles.amor

We live in Maryland and would like to come to NYC to see the d's in Washington Square Park. I'm uncertain of the date; Sunday April 27... not computing. 26th maybe or is it on a Monday? Thanks!

I am the proprietor of Yappy Hour at The Wonder bar in Asbury Park New Jersey. We open our 5000 sq ft 'Doggy Deck" in March and do not close until the end of November. We open for Yappy Hour 6 nights a week in the summer and all day Saturday and Sunday. Every Saturday is dedicated to having a Benefit for one of our Rescue Groups. We would love to welcome your group! You can go to our Facebook Page Wonder Bar Yappy Hour to see photos from Pug A Palooza, our MidAtlantic BullDog Benefit, Halloween Parades for Wag On Inn Rescue and other great nights of fun for all. In the summer we sometimes have over 200 dogs join us...all unleashed and enjoying our pools while the owners enjoy the Tiki Bar! If you would like to hold an event here please email me at debbiedelisa@hotmail.com. Thanks and hope to meet all of you!

UNFORTUNATELY THE PARKS DEPARRTMENT DOES NOT ISSUE RAIN DATES ANYMORE. AND WE CAN NOT JUST SHOW UP WHEN WE WANT TO AS THE PARKS DEPARTMENT IS UNLIKELY TO GRANT FURTHER PERMITS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.

We no longer require a permit for out Dachshund Festival

A megaphone is not prohibited. The calliope is also no
problem as it is a musical instrument.

I will try to get there on time (at noon) on Saturday April 25, 2015.
Sunday the 26th if it is raining on Saturday.

Hope to see everybody and their dogs then

I eMailed Adrian a week or so ago and haven't
had an answer. I hope he is OK.

hey
I recently lost my dachshund....Daniel!
He was the most energetic and loving dog I've ever seen...but he had chronic bronchitis and died suddenly at the age of 3.5 years
I can't move on and I noe I won't be able to live without him so I was thinking of adopting a new dachshund
But are dachshunds very prone to diseases?
I can't lose my new pet!.

Hi Adrian,

A student interviewed me about the Dachshund Festival. The link is here (complete with a picture of Waldo I took a while back, plus one of our dog Hildegard with a puppy named Mars. Sorry it was rained out, but hope to attend in April.

You should declare rain date to tomorrow.... No one will be there today.

Dear DFC: I do hope you declare this a rained out event and re-schedule for tomorrow. No self-respecting dachshund (or their owner) would go out in this weather. Thanks

Is there a rain date for today's Dachshund festival?

Make that: We were there the LAST Saturday in April 2014.

October 1, 2014
Hi Adrian,
In April, 2014 we were all at Washington Square Park on the first Saturday.
When I checked this site a few days later, I discovered that the Dachshund Spring Fiesta had been changed to Sunday. Were you there on the Sunday?
Is anyone "official" going to be there either day this coming weekend? I see the weather is dubious for Saturday.
If it is at all possible, I will be there Saturday. If there is an official change, I will check this site to find out and also show up on Sunday.
In April, people were disappointed that we did not sing the Dachs Song on Saturday.
I did not come Sunday so I don't know what happened.
I hope you are well, and that I get to see you this weekend.
After these 20 or so years, I hope the tradition will continue.
Best regards,
Mary Parker with Clove and Sage.

I just heard about this Dachshund event in Washington Square Park. Is it going to be on October 4 or is there another set date? I see there was one in April this year. Definitely want to go to this event....

Typically the Fall Dachshund Festival was the first Saturday in October, which would be October 4 for 2014. Whether its an official festival or just dachshunds informally getting together, me and my little pal plan on being at the park around noon.

Is there a dachshund fest in Washington Square Park, NYC October 2014?

Will there be a Dachshund Day in October this year? I hope so!

what is the date for Dachtoberfest 2014?

I am just trying to get the word out to fellow dachshund lovers about a calendar contest that Florida Dachshund Rescue, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is having. I didn't know if you were aware of it or not. People can enter photos of their doxies. You do not have to live in Florida to enter. People then vote on their favorites. You can still enter a photo until the end of July and voting continues until the end of August. This is a fund raiser, so to enter it is a donation of $10 and to vote is a donation of $5 for 5 votes or more for additional votes. Here is the website for the contest. Lots of cute photos. Check it out for further details. http://www.gogophotocontest.com/floridadachshundrescue

Filmmakers creating a parody of a popular television show are seeking to cast dachshunds for a video production shooting in the NYC-area, mid-August. All varieties of dachshund welcome & encouraged.

Dachshunds must be comfortable wearing tiny wigs and adorable costumes. Dachshunds must also have a passion for performance and entertainment.

Additionally, dachshunds must be immune to the perils of fame and celebrity, as this video will undoubtedly become a viral video sensation rivaling even the most outrageous Korean dance craze.

If interested, please contact secretdoxieproject@gmail.com with headshots for more information.

Jack is currently is his third episode with IVDD. The vet thinks that he has several disk that are ruptured and more in the future. Wants him to go for an MRI of his back to determine the damage. This is the first things that the money would go for. The vet believes that this will cost around $1000 We have been trying conservative treatment but she is unable to determine if it will be effective for the long term. Jack is only 5 years old and has spent months in his cage because we couldn't do the surgeries in the past. The money for his conservative treatment has cost around $2000 thus far. Want to be able to help him more than I am at the moment. This money would open up options for surgery, laser therapy, and other conservative options. It is hard feeling like we want to do so much but there is so little in our power to do. Have read and been given feedback that he may not walk or be normal again but that the surgery could at least reduce pain.

Dear Adrian, Waldo, and Fellow Dachshund Lovers,
My stepmother was a DFC subscriber many years ago and a complete nut for dachshunds, especially her own brown minis, Ms. Walter (named after Walter Cronkite) and Ms. Mike (named after Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes"). After Ms. Walter passed away, my stepmother got a black-and-tan mini and intended to name her Ms. Ed (after Ed Bradley of "60 Minutes") but thought better of it for my suggestion, Dulcinea, from "Don Quixote," which was my father's favorite book. My thinking was that when she was good, we'd call her Dulcinea, and when she was bad, we'd call her Aldonza. Of course, Aldonza never stuck. Instead, she became Dulcie and immediately took up residence in all of our hearts.

I inherited Dulcie when my stepmother passed away, and she changed my life. She was my little "velcro dog" -- always by my side. I never really understood the power of a dachshund until Dulcinea became mine. (There's a hole in my heart and soul now because Dulcie passed away in 2012 from liver cancer at age 16-1/2. I still can't express how much I miss her.)

I also inherited from my stepmother a truly spectacular collection of more than 100 dachshund figurines. You can view them on craigslist at:

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/clt/4266654227.html

Sadly, I am moving soon and simply cannot take all these figurines with me. I have selected a few of my favorites to keep (a very difficult task) but must part with the rest. I’m wondering if anyone might be interested in buying them, hopefully as a collection (at best offer) but pieces are available individually. Also, if anyone knows of another site or potential buyer that might be interested, please let me know through the craigslist e-mail listed with the posting. I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading, and thanks to all our dachshunds for just being who they are!

is there a parade at Washington Square Park on Saturday, October 5th?

Hi, just wanted to share the trailer for this new movie, Wiener Dog Nationals. It's about a rescue dachshund who goes on to do great things....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNnl0-RTSZ8

Is there a way to join your club?

Is the parade on this year? I am only seeing postings about 2012?

Is there going to be an web page archive or should I copy the new Web format "page" every time I check in?

Does everyone know about the Yellow Dog Project? This is not about a political moniker nor the Baltimore tavern - it's a brilliant new convention for dog owners to alert others that their dogs should not be approached.

The Yellow Dog Project was created to bring awareness to the general public about dogs who need space while training, recovering from surgery, or being rehabilitated, or are just plain timid.

"If you see a dog with a yellow ribbon or something yellow on its leash, this is a dog who needs some space. Please do not approach this dog with your dog. Please maintain distance or give this dog and its walker time to move out of your way."

You can read about it here: http://www.theyellowdogproject.com/The_Yellow_ Dog_Project/Home.html

I have just learned about this great idea and hope to spread the word so others will recognize the yellow ribbon on my friendly but fearful Dachshund.

Dachshunds are the best of all the breeds. We have had them all.

What time does the event end today?!

I am interested in adopting a young female smooth (short) haired dachshund. Does any one know of one available in the metro NY area? I live on Long Island in Nassau County.

Hello,

To website owner of Dachshund Friendship Club:

Hello,

I have had your excellent site listed as a link on my site for a long time.

Please consider adding my site as a link on yours.

Thanks much,

Dear Adrian,
We met when you were driving by and noticed my dog called Boss. We began a discussion about him and his 16 year age and sinus ailments. As it turned out, yours has similar issues that could not be solved until your vet prescribed Piroxicam. I asked my vet about the meds and she said, "what a great idea!" Boss has tumors in his nasal passages which is common for this breed. This medication has shrunk the tumors and he is doing much better. My vet was prescribing antibiotics and Prednisone for the inflamation. This would give him temporary relief and then we would start another round after the symptoms returned. The vet offered no other solutions. We left him on the Prednisone for his joints and started the Piroxicam. He has been on it for one week and he is much more active and happy.
Your love of these animals has helped to greatly improved the quality life for Boss and myself for the remainder of the time that we will have together. Thank you very much for truly caring and helping.
Sincerely,
Phil

Does anyone know of a vet in NYC that specializes in dachshunds? Please e-mail me[at]alexandramartell[dot]com if so!

There is a website that says the Dachshund Parade is on May 12th in Washington Square Park. Is that Rochester or NYC? I think I may have missed the one in NYC. :-/

I'm from Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue and I'm looking for someone in the rescue community to do a home visit for me in Mineola, Long Island. Please contact me at dgerhauser@verizon.net if you can help. Thank you!

There are two beautiful doxies in the Lancaster Animal Shelter in South Carolina. Can someone please rescue these beautiful babies! Jill Anderson

My name is Anna Marie. I stopped yesterday during a trip because one of my daschunds (I had two) seemed upset; I travel with them in a crate in the back seat so as not to have unexpected problems. I parked in what I thought was a fairly safe place, hooked both of them to their leash (even checked to be sure they were secure) and somehow Cocoa's collar broke free of her leash and she was off and running, eventually being killed by a passing car. People came from nowhere to assist me - yelling at the cars - standing in the middle of the road to stop them and yet with all of our screams, one - just one - car kept coming - hit her and rolled over her with both wheels - breaking her back and rendering her mangled and bleeding terribly. It was horrific! I will never - never - ever - be able to get that vision out of my mind. I did not have the money to pay the vet (whom I did not know). A friend loaned me the money. Please, if you can, tell me if there are people who help with donations during a time like this - I have read about it - I just cannot seem to find the right site on the internet. I want to pay this bill of $500. You may write to me at imagebyamg@yahoo.com if you know. Thank you very much.

Hello!! My name is Jillian. I was wondering if maybe you could do a slideshow of all the dachshunds of the club. Just wondering. It's a suggestion. Something fun for viewers to watch. Even makes them wanna join.

Will my dachshund ever tire of barking at squirrels? I can't take it anymore. he's not bored; we come home from long walks and he can't wait to get back in the yard and start barking.

We were in Washington Square park in Greenwich Village in New York and someone mentioned a Dachshund friendship club meeting at the park. Can you tell me when this event will be? Thanks!

Please do not use Camp Canine doggy daycare on the upper west side. They LOST our mini dachshund (claimed she ran away into Central Park)and went missing until a kind stranger found her on 110th and Riverside Drive. We have filed complaints and already settled --just want all to be aware. For the whole story pls see Yelp link below. Thanks for reading.

How can I order the Happy Holidays print? I have a new Dachsund puppy and I love this print!

I'm in desperate need of help. My seven year old male dachshund is sick. He has glassy eyes, whines-walking in circles, has been eating, drinking, and going to potty until today. He will not let me pick him up but does not yelp if I press on his body to feel for growths or any other problem. Can anyone help me-I ask our local vet and he said to bring him in and he'd put him to sleep.

Hello, My Name is Sarah. I am a jeweller from Toronto and I have a line of Dachshund Jewellery! I was wondering if there are vendor opportunities at the Dachshund Spring Fiesta or Oktoberfest and was wondering if anyone has any info on who I might contact about this!
Thanks,

Hi I have a mini short hair blk and tan male who I am very interesting in mating him with a special girl. He is an angel and everyone tells me how beautiful he. If anyone knows of a female that wants to be breeder with my Napoleon please email me at svanegas28@gmail.com. I live in the NYC area.

Hi, I adopted Hershey, the 7 year old standard wire haired doxie listed as a rescue. I have found out his birthday, which is 1-1-2004. I am either trying to find the breeder or the vet who took care of him from his previous owner to obtain more info about him. Can anyone assist me? He was very well taken care of by his prior owner. He seems to have had obedience training, responds wellto commands and has been groomed regularly. Thanks for any help that can be provided. LM P.S. I can be reached at momlovesgretel@aol.com

I guess your @ it again..you really do not know what the hell your talking about when you say they over medicate their dogs you really have to be nuts...their dogs are wonderful and their puppies are well taken care of you on ther other hand just could not take are of the puppy and you needed an exsuse to return the dog...so do yourself a favor and stop putting lies out their and also stop putting their names on here because I am sure that you don't want your info on here...if you do not have the facts you really do not need to put stuff on here so enough is enough..and I hope that the puppy found a good home

I just wanted to let everyone know that the site Almost Home for doxy rescue had a calendar contest to help raise funds for the dogs. My dogs Amber and Zoey are on the cover. A portion of the proceeds from the calendars goes to Almost Home. Here is the link. Thanks pam

Holidays are here and puppies are often bought as gifts.
Avoid buying from pet shops (puppy mills), instead go to Dachshund Rescue groups. Especially avoid from buying from the so called breeder who was proven to lie, buy from puppy mills and not breed, taken to court for selling sick pups and lost, proven to be an unlicensed seller of doxies by the Dept. of Agriculture & Markets. Elizabeth and Phil Stasio / Stasio Quality Puppies / Stasio's Dachshunds or whatever name they are going by now. They sell out of their living room in Bensonhurst Brooklyn, NY. They even use their car's license plate to advertise they sell Doxie pups. They over medicate their puppies they buy, instead of taking them to the Veterinary for proper care before selling them.
Adopt from your neighborhood shelter this holiday season.
Voice 4 Dachshund Advocates

I had a problem develope with 2 males where the 'pup' ultimately fought his way to alpha over the older dachs. They never became friends. In 30 years this only happened once to me but it made our home life tense. I would never have given up either guy. We learned to anticipate, especially during meals. Since your pup is very young and new to your house, you might consider asking the breeder if you could exchange for a female. Mixed sexes normally get along---no alpha contest---female always tops.

Oh,My email is mish_pfiffner@yahoo.com and I would appreciate any advice from anyone who could help my situation that I wrote below. Thanks :)

Hi, I'm from Manila, Philippines and I'm a very proud owner of Dachshunds. I've had the breed since I was little. My family and I love the breed so much. However, I need some advice and looking at this site, I see a lot of people that could offer that advice. I've had my black short hair male since a year and a half ago and his name is Hendrix. He is so lovable and very active. He has a very good temper. However today, I got a new puppy from the same breeder I got Hendrix from. I got a brown one this time and decided to call him Bowie. So when I got home and slowly introduced Bowie to Hendrix, Hendrix's attitude changed. He was hostile towards the puppy. I've never seen this side of him before, Now I read that when first introducing a new addition, you must pay attention to the older dog too, which is what I did. So I let the puppy walk a bit to explore and Hendrix started pushing him roughly and nipping at him and barking. I am very worried as Bowie is only a month old. So for now, He is staying at my boyfriend's house until he gets to be a little older and not so fragile.. I really need help.. Is it impossible to have 2 male dachshunds in one house? and at what age would it be safe to re-introduce Bowie to Hendrix? and how do I stop them from fighting each other. I really need advice as I don't think I can handle heartbreak if one of them gets hurt. Please help. Thanks very much :)

HOW DOGGY DAYCARE LOST OUR DOG
--EVERY NEW YORK PET OWNER'S NIGHTMARE

hi, as a proud new yorker and doxie owner who regularly attends the "dachtoberfest" and spring fiesta every year, i want to alert you to break the news about what happened at doggy daycare, so every pet owner in NYC can avoid the nightmare we went thru.

my boyfriend and I are travelling, so we arranged for our 1.5 year old mini dachshund, Hazelnut, to stay in doggy daycare during the day (Camp Canine on 73rd and broadway), and our friends would pick her up at night and care for her afterwards.

Last Thursday, they went to pick her up at 7pm (during close) and the staff at Camp Canine said she ran away and was lost -- that a "customer left the door open and let her out", and the staff saw her run into Central Park nowhere to be seen, trying to chase her but to no avail. Mind you, this daycare has a "state of the art security system" according to their website and several doors to pass thru, plus a steep set of stairs to exit. Even more infuriating, the staff didn't even call us or our friends.

Our friends were beyond furious and bolted into Central Park calling her name over and over. That night there was heavy rain and thundering. No Hazelnut. Search continued, with trips to the police station, local pounds, "amber alerts" all over craigslist, 300 distributed flyers with Hazelnut's picture, etc. Long story short, the next day they got a call from a man who found her at 110th and riverside drive, over 30 blocks away from daycare (and several long avenues full of traffic). The poor thing was scratched up, one leg limping, trembling, hungry, and traumatized from spending the night all alone in terrible weather, most likely in the park.

The staff at Camp Canine refused to give us the video feed of the floor. They did post *one* flyer at the local animal center to "help." this speaks volumes about their "responsibility". The staff at CC gave up on the chase and obviously had the time to walk back to the office and delay the inevitable phone call, because it never came. Perhaps they were too scared. I can only guess at what happened, but no one knows for sure what really went on.

Nevertheless we are happy Hazelnut is safe and home now. Thankfully her injuries are not serious and she is doing very well.

Regretfully, in our haste we didn't check Yelp about Camp Canine. The one-star reviews and death of one dog say it all.

this story has a happy ending, but it could happen to anyone. Were it not for the heroic actions of our friends and witnesses, Hazelnut could have been lost forever.
This story also speaks volumes about the willingness of New Yorkers earnestly trying to help find her. Even now we still get calls from concerned citizens asking if we found hazelnut, via the flyers.

I'm writing to ask your help to spread the word about doggy daycare disasters, so no one has to go thru what we did.

i'd love to send you photos of our beloved Hazelnut. For more indepth story, we can provide witnesses to speak, the hero who found her, and more. I think all of new york deserves to know about this story and can relate.

pls email me at cinnaccts@gmail.com, or 917 774-8305.

thanks for reading,

cindy

I'm looking for a puppy mini dachshund. Ours died after 14 good years. Have been looking but I can't afford some of these prices. I'm not interested in papers, just a dachshund. Can you steer me in the right direction. I would really appreciate it. Thank You

Hi, Is the Dachsfest still on? Supposed to rain on and off all day?

Hello,
The forecastt is rain for tomorrow, October 1. Any idea if the festival will be on or the next day? I'm traveling a distance. thanks.

It looks like it will rain on Saturday. Is there a rain date for the Octoberfest in Washington Square Park?

The DACHTOBERFEST is generally the 1st saturday in Oct. So then its this saturday.

Anyone dressing their Dachs in Howloween costumes or is it too early?

Thanks, Aaarrroooo.

Looking forward to attending the upcoming Octoberfest, I'm hoping you could post the main meeting area in the park? Is there a "best street" area for parking? First time attending and would love to have some feedback on this -
Thx!!

How long is the event in NYC ? Until what time ? I cannot make it at 1pm but I would love to take my dog.

Hi,
Just a quick question about the October fest in Washington Square Park. It says the first Saturday of October - the first day of the month is a Saturday. Just wanted to see if it is the 1st or the 8th?
Thanks!!

Hello to all Doxie lovers!

There will be a Wiener Race in Mooresville, NC on October 8th. Everyone is looking forward to watching feisty Dachshunds race for 4 division trophies and compete in the “Cutest” and “Best Dressed” contests. A variety of vendors will be on hand providing products, services and of course delicious delicious refreshments along with a raffle at the awards ceremony. Two local animal advocates, Friends of the Animals and The Humane Society of Iredell are this year’s beneficiaries of the proceeds raised by the event. Presently we are engaged in a drive for T-Shirt sponsors. We would like to invite you and or your company to consider participating in one of the levels as depicted below. The artwork for our shirt was commissioned from national cartoonist, Michael Gallagher, and will surely become a collector’s edition in years to come! So please help spread the word by marking your calendars and telling all your friends who have racing wieners to come participate in our charitable event. For details, and sponsor forms please visit our website; www.mooresvillewienerrace.com or call Tom Kilroe @ 704-562-6427 or Taffy Kilroe @ 704-576-7996.

Thanks and see you there!

From another satisfied Liz puppy owner:

Barb,

Thanks for your email about Liz.

I could not be happier about the beautiful, happy, perfect daschund I bought from Liz almost 5 years ago.(See pix)

Several of my friends have gotten wiener dogs from her as well; and all are 100% satisfied.

I have been recommending her business to everyone looking for a dog and will certainly continue to do so.

All the best Liz,

I thought this rubbish about Liz Stasio was over. Shame on whomever's posting it, and shame on the "Friendship Club" for allowing it to go on. It's worse than the stupid comments that get posted on AOL by ignorant readers about stories they know nothing about.
Liz and her puppies and her grown dogs and her family are wonderful. I have a healthy 3-1/2 year old mini that I bought from her and board with her when I go on long trips.

I am having a problem with my dog Sadie. SHe is a standard red doxie. She started not eating/drinking like she used to and was not her cheerful self. I took her to the vet Twice thinking for a battery of blood work/urinallis/Pancrentitis test/and x-ray and they are stumped. SHe finially started eating and drinking again and he pepped up after she gets her antiinflamatory. but after that she has very wobbly hind legs and doesnt seem to have a lot of sensation in them. I am HYSTERICAL ! I want my dog back and I want to know what I can do to help her. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you

Think what you want about Liz Stacio, but as long as I know the truth.

Dear Andrea, I highly recommend though hard to find, to help your 2yr old doxi is a dog chiropractor. Also, an acupuncturist. In the mean time some ice then and heat on the effected area and gentle massage. Avoid your dog from stairs, jumping up and down off of things. All the best to you and your little one.

WHY DON'T YOU STOP POSTING HER NAME ON THIS BOARD...YOU DON'T KNOW HER AND YOU REALLY NEED TO STOP...WHO ARE YOU TO SAY THAT SHE SHOULDN'T BE AROUND ANIMALS..SHE TAKES VERY GOOD CARE OF HER DOGS...SHE HAS A FAMILY LEAVE HER ALONE

Please anyone reading this board, don't purchase any animals from Liz Stacio. A very very bad risk. I know exactly what the person who is knocking her is talking about. You will be sorry. I know more than you can imagine about this Liz Stacio. Stay far far away. thank you.

S T A C I O BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Got your attention ha!!! Pay the person that sued you the money that they are entitled to. How long are you going to make them wait. You are going to wind up in jail for your stupidity. I want all you readers to know that Stacio does not conform with the law or anything else. I love animals but this person Stacio should not be allowed near them. If you don't believe me ask the courts.

first of all I don't know who the hell are you to put things on this site about someone that you don't even know...why don't you stop being immature and calling names....I thought you grew up but guess that never happened...how do you call her something ok she is a good person and loves her dogs and her kids so please stop writing all garbage on this site if you have something to say you should contact her...what is this with DOXIPUPS and Karma

How is that douche bag Stacio doing. Still selling sick dogs. How many more people sued you and did not get paid. Karma a bitch. DOXIPUPS

Hi My daughter has a dchshund with a back problem. The thing the vet told her was not to make him climb the stairs and jump on furniture. Also, she gave the dog ani-inflammatory pills. My daughter's dog is eight. Two is a little young to have a back problem.

Hi,
To anyone who loves Dachshunds and who will be in LA on August 13th 2011 there is an extremely funny and adorable film called '141 Dachshunds', being screened at the Feel Good Film Festival (www.fgff.org).
Check it out-this film is not to be missed!
Enjoy, Alice

HI MY NAME IS ANDREA,I HAVE A MINI DOXEN, AND SHE JUST TURNED 2 YRS OLD. THE PAST TWO MONTHS HAD TO BRING HER TO THE VET, DUE TO BACK PROBLEM. IS THERE ANYTHING ANYONE CAN SUGGEST TO DO, OR ANY ADVICE THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.

Looking to breed my rare gray & tan female doxie shes 2 weighs 8 lbs sweet girl to be a mother before we fix her st.louis area

There is a Facebook page for the Dachshund Spring Fiesta, so if you are a member of Facebook, you can go there and participate.

Oh, yeah, someone asked about the time, in the past is has always been at noon that it started.

Yeah, I am wondering about the Dachshund Spring Fiesta...the most recent event here is Jan 2010. Well, I will bring my Dachshund Otto (one year old a week ago) to Washington Square Park on April 30...home there will be more dachshunds there!

Looks like this site and group is not being maintained.

Correct, nothing out there.

I also request details on the Spring 2011 Washington Square Park event. There is nothing on the web from what I can see indicating the 2011 dates although I assume last Sat in April being April 30th.

I second the request for info for the 2011 day in Washington Square Park!

When is Weiner Dog Day in Washington SQ Park this year?
April 30th? What are the times?
Thanks,
Ken

If there is any financial assistance that you can provide we would be forever grateful. Please email me at FredSamRusty@yahoo.com

how do we e mail site admin/domain owner, etc? Thanks, Link

wrong again Prinny....this is a satisfied customer...why don't you stop worrying about Liz & take care of your dogs

Why don't you stop speaking for yourself because this is Stacio and I would bet my life on it. Stop throwing boquets at yourself.

enough already...why dont you stop putting her name on this...would you like it if I put your first & last name on this...ok she is a good person & has a wonderful family & dogs so just STOP

You are already in just by responding. Just don't get involved with Liz Stacio or you will be totally screwed.

hi..
i´m ana .. from mexico , i want to joy the club, i have a dachshun named Misha , she is my life.. im proud of my little baby.. how can i get in?

your wrong again this is a very very satisfied couple that has 2 beautiful dachshunds from Liz...you are the one portraying yourself as someone else

Anyway, the person who is replying to these messages is Stacio herself. No one is out to protect her. Fooooooooool

I would think very carefully about what your saying, low life.

no she's definitely not a low life the person that curses on this message board is...

You were contacted by phone, e-mail and court orders. You ignore everything. So don't play stupid. You never responded to anything and you know that. Stop making people think how holier than thow you are because you are not. You are the low life.

who is this that is writing all kinds of lies about me...and who are you to say you are getting someone arrested because you are the one cursing like a lowlife on the internet and who just wrote saying that you bought a dog from me and it passed away...you have my # and my email so you should use that to get in contact with me and for you that does not een know me and you say you don't know Prinny either then you should mind your business too...

Stacio's brain is up in her butt. I do agree with everything that you are saying because I had similar problems with her. She sold me a sick dog which wound up dying two months later. She never gave me another dog or my money back. I hear you and I get it. She is not the type of person you want to do business with. Or any kind of anything.

ass Hole Jerk off, carpet muncher, three dollar bill, breezer, switch hiter, off grand turkey.

J.O. How do you know that whom I'm cursing I don't know. Mind your business if you are not Stacio and keep off this site before I get you arrested. People like you should not voice their opinion when they have no clue what is going on.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzSbSE0JooI Miniature Dachshunds have a challenge in 12" of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU REALLY ARE A SLOB BY CURSING SOMEONE THAT YOU DONT KNOW GOODBYE IDIOT WASTE OF LIFE

YOU REALLY ARE A SLOB BY NOW CURSING ON THE INTERNET...GOODBYE IDIOT WASTE OF LIFE

I don't know who you are, probably Stacio. No life, no scruples, you are the jerk off, rip off thief. I only know what you did to this person Prinny. I am indeed responding on her behalf even though I don't know her. But I know from what I read that she is the one that got screwed. I think Stacio should go Fuck herself and stop selling poor sick animals. you jerk off, whoever you are.

KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT IDIOT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOUR TALKING ABOUT

YOU ARE DEFINTITELY OUT OF YOUR MIND...I CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU CAN SAY ALL THAT ON THIS DISUSSION BOARD BUT IF YOU CAN YOU ARE A JERKOFF AND OF COURSE THE ASSHOLE AND OF COURSE YOU HAE TO KNOW PRINNY THE MORON

Oh and by the wasy Stacio is the asshole, thief, moron and incompetant person, NOT PRINNY.

When you don't know whAT YOUR talking about, keep your big trap shut. Obviously you don't know that she took her to court and Stacio did not even respond or pay the money this person had coming to her. She totally disregarded the legal system. So shut up when you have no idea what is going on. FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARE YOU AT IT AGAIN PRINNY..STOP PUTTING HER NAME ON THIS SIGHT SHE NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG...THE ONLY REASON WHY SHE SAID THE DOG WAS NOT GOOD WAS FOR 1 REASON ONLY SHE HAD TOLD HER THAT THE PUPPY WAS BARKING TO MUCH AND HER NEIGHBORS WERE COMPLAINING...SHE HAS A VOICEMAIL TO PROVE IT...SO CAN YOU STOP ALREADY AND ONE MORE THING WHERE IS THE PUPPY NOW...I HOPE IT'S NOT WITH YOU

About Mrs. Elizabeth Stacio. One of her former clients took her to court. Of course she never showed up. Her client won by default and this was last May 2010. Do you know that Ms. Stacio was ordered to pay her client by a court judgement and to this day completely ignored it. This is not the type of person you want to do business with. She even defied the judicial system. She should be thrown in jail. Selling sick dogs. A disgrace.

I'm trying to find out when/where the dachshund pre-Westminster competition will take place.
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend an excellent breeder of small mini dachshunds? Must be soft, red or solid black and under 9 lbs. Seeking female. Pls, write cgalowitz@nyc.rr.com. Recently lost ours to a brain tumor. Heartbroken.

Anyone know of a red short-haired dachshund in the Manhattan area who can "act" in a feature film shoot on November 20? The film, "Wolf Dog," is a dramatic feature about our intimate and fragile relationship with animals, and what they can teach us. The doxie and his/her companion(s) will receive a credit in the film as well as $50 compensation.

"Wolf Dog" centers on the 20-year friendship of Paco Sosa -- who was New York's oldest dog until he passed away last September -- and his human companion, Wolf Dog director, Bernadine Santistevan.(See http://www.nydailynews.com/lifestyle/pets/2010/02/21/2010-02-21_after_140_dog_years_paco_goes_in_peace.html

I can email an Executive Summary and answer any questions you may have if you reach me at laurablum@hotmail.com or 646 842 2985.

I look forward to hearing about any potential "actors" who can join our production! Thank you for your earliest help and support.

Cheers,
Laura Blum

I want to build a fence in my yard for my dachshund - how deep in the ground should the fence be and how high above the ground?

Dash was the name of Queen Victoria’s beloved Tricolor Cavalier. Dash’s tombstone is inscribed with the following message written by the Queen herself:

"Here lies Dash, the favorite spaniel of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, by whose command this memorial was erected. He died on the 20th December 1840 in his ninth year. His attachment was without selfishness, his playfulness without malice, his fidelity without deceit. Reader, if you would live beloved and die regretted, profit by the example of Dash.”

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were clearly the model for the “Staffordshires” pottery dogs made in England from the late 1850s until the 1930s.

missed doxie day in Oct. Please let us know when the April doxie day is set for so I will be sure to get there with Ozzie.

There is a group that meets regularly by Riverside Park near 70s and West Side Hwy.

Go to http://www.meetup.com/dachshund-33/ for more information.

Holy Cow!! This site doesn't look like a Dachshund Friendship Club!
I tried to click on the Newsletter, but it wouldn't open. All I see is this horrible blog!
Nice pictures, though.
Anyone know about gatherings in NYC??
Thx!

I also bought a dachshund from Stasio named Chip. He had some minor medical issues which I became aware of later and immediately had taken care of. Not a big deal really. We bought him the first time we came by and I have to say it was because we were really impressed with the conditions and environment that we saw while we were there. She had a few children and they were playing with the puppies in baby cribs on their porch of there beautiful home. The puppies seemed very healthy and playful. They had the best conditions that I have ever seen in NYC yet. They had a lot of other animals and aquariums in their house too. Well anyway, he is a beautiful heathy 2 year old boy now and my wife and I couldnt be happier. Remember Elizabeth, you cant please everyone. Good luck to you.

You a shem a nude.

NO YOU SHOULD LISTEN..I AM A SATISFIED CUSTOMER AND I SAID I WAS A SATISFIED FRIEND..I MET HER AND HER FAMILY WHEN I BOUGHT A PUPPY FROM THEM SO YES I AM HER FRIEND...AND NO SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT ABOUT THE MONEY BECAUSE IF SHE WAS THEN SHE WOULD SELL THEM FOR ALOT MORE...SHE LOVES HER DOGS AND TAKES GREAT CARE OF THEM SO STOP PASSING JUDGEMENT ON WHAT YOU READ IF YOU DON'T KNOW HER AND NEVER MET HER...ENOUGH ALREADY

Listen, I don't care who you think this is. All I know is what I have been reading for months now. Of course you are going to stick up for her if you are friends or family. So please stop misguiding people on how wonderful and responsible she is. Enough is enough. She is all about money.

FIRST OF ALL THIS IS NOT HER THIS IS A VERY HAPPY AND SATISFIED FRIEND OF HER AND HER FAMILY THAT BOUGHT A DOG FROM HER...THIS COULD ONLY BE THE ONE PERSON THAT HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PUPPY BECAUSE HER NEIGHBORS WERE HAVING A HARD TIME DEALING WITH THE PUPPY BARKING WHEN YOU WERE NOT ...SO IF YOU WANT TO KEEP SAYING HER NAME OVER AND OVER I CAN DO THE SAME...NOW ENOUGH WITH ALL THE LIES

Stop defending yourself Stacio because you don't have a leg to stand on. Why don't you tell your readers that you never showed up in court and lost by default and never paid the poor person that sued you. That is really messed up. Don't lie because you know it's true.

MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND STOP WRITING HER NAME...THE REASON WHY YOU CAN NOT SAY WHO YOU ARE IS BECAUSE YOU DO NOT KNOW HER AND NEVER MET HER SO YOU ARE JUST READING THINGS AND NOT KNOWING THE TRUTH....THIS IS A WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THAT IT IS JUST THAT ONE ANNOYING PERSON THAT DOESN'T HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO...BYE BYE

Again, I'm going to say that I have heard from more than five people the things she has done to them. So again if this is not Stacio writing these messages, you cannot say that what she did is not true. So mind your business. and screw you too.

SCREW YOU TOO...YOU ARE READING THINGS THAT ARE NOT TRUE AND YOUR SAYING THINGS ABOUT HER THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW BECAUSE AS YOU SAY YOU ARE NOT THAT PERSON THAT WE THINK YOU ARE AND IF YOU ARE NOT THAT PERSON THEN YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO SHE IS AND HOW WELL KEPT HER HOUSE IS THAT YOU WOULD NOT EVEN KNOW SHE HAS DOGS SO BEFORE YOU ASSUME THINGS YOU SHOULD HAVE MET HER FIRST

Screw you, you piece of garbage. This is not the person who you think it is. I'm acting alone after reading posts for many months and I think it is terrible how this so called seller of dogs conducts business. So whoever you think this might be, it is not. I'm an animal activist and I do not condone the way she conducts business. So to hell with you. Wake up before it is too late. Do not buy pets from Stacio ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WELL OF COURSE IT HAS TO BE THE ONE AND ONLY WRITING ABOUT STASIO BECAUSE SHE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS ANYTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT STASIO...AND YOU CAN SHOVE IT TOO..BYE

Why don't you tell the truth about how you were supeoned by one of your customers and never showed up in court. Of course you were in default and lost by that means. You did not show up because you knew you would have lost the case. What kind of a person are you. You care about nothing but yourself and the illegal money you are making. Do you pay taxes on this money? I would say not. So take your bullshit business and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Go learn the law and go learn how to read. If you have the internet or even know what it is, look it up. This has to be Stacio responding. I cannot believe that any other person would protect you in any way. No one believe you, get it.

YOUR CALLING ME A MORON...THIS HAS TO BE THE SAME PERSON...SO MORON..YOU DO NOT NEED A LICENSE IF THEY ARE YOUR PERSONAL PETS THAT ARE HAVING PUPPIES...

I agree with you totally. You definitely do need a license to sell pets. Do not listen to the person who says you don't. They really don't know the law.

No moron, you get the facts. You have no idea what is going on. She has also been sued and lost. Did you know that? So don't talk because you don't know anything about how she screws people over.

YOUR THE FOOL SHE DID NOT GET A FINE SO YOU SHOULD KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT...YOU DO NOT NEED A LICENSE IF YOUR DOG HAS PUPPIES IN YOUR HOUSE..SO GET THE FACTS BEFORE YOU OPEN UP YOUR MOUTH

Fool, you think you know. Check with the Department of Agriculture and Health. She already got a fine for selling dogs without a license. When you don't know what you are talking about, keep your mouth shut.

ENOUGH ALREADY....FIRST OF ALL IF SHE SELLS HER OWN PUPPIES SHE DOES NOT NEED A LICENSE...GIVE IT A BREAK ALREADY

Anyone who is stupid enough to buy a dog from Stacio has to have their head examined. She is a not a responsible person much less to sell or breed animals. She does not even have a license to sell dogs. Watch out, she is nothing but trouble. If you read former blogs you will see what I mean.

i would like to attend the parade in oct. nyc, but can't find a date - please help - my dachshund is edelweise! susan

Thanks so much Greg....I appreciate it very much....their are many people that need to know that when you first bring a puppy into your house their are many different things that can happen...we always gave all our puppies all their vaccinations and kept them until they were 10 weeks old which by law we can let them go to their forever homes @ 8 weeks old....someone else also told me that that book helps alot....please stay in touch and thanks again..

I bought a puppy from Liz Stasio 2.5 years ago. His name is Murphy, black and tan male. He is a happy and energetic dog and we are constantly asked for information about the breeder. Our backyard is central park and he plays with every dog he sees. If the other dog ignores him he will attempt to kiss them until they notice him. We are really lucky to have such a good dog. Thanks Elizabeth for the service you offer and don't let this one person get to you. Puppies are delicate before they're fully vaccinated... especially in the city. Maybe you should give your customers a " dachshunds for dummies " book.. built into the price of course. It may sound like a joke but some people may not know exactly what they're getting into. The book really helped for our first, Harry, and we still referenced it for Murphy. Hang in there Liz. - Greg Millen , Millen@NYC.rr.com

Also, there is pet insurance which is very affordable in case of serious illnesses. Check out VPI insurance. I have been using it for years. Go on their web site.

I'm sorry for your loss of Jalapeno. I know vet bills could be expensive. I also believe that people who don't have the means to provide medical in case of an illness should not have pets. Also, your brother should be in jail for throwing this poor dog against the wall. He should be reported and never be able to adopt another animal. You knowing this, it is your responsibility to make sure he never does.

HELP Please- A Special Forces Veteran lost his Dachshund last weekend and is heart broken. If anyone can donate a Dachsund, 1 or 2 or 3 year old male, to him it would be wonderful. He was a life saver to this veteran who served for 15 years in combat situations. I am a VA Veterans Advocate and you can reach me at marjorie.temple@va.gov for more information. Thank you.

I'm DC. One year ago,my brother James brought me his dachshund asking for me to look after him. I took in this lovable little weenie named Jalapeno. He came to me at four months old and with broken ribs. Knowing James' abusive tendancies(having throen a previous doxie against a wall because it chewed his shoes) I was devastated. A few months passed and I had heard no word from James and thought that he didn't want his dog back. I then adopted him and called him Horhay Jalapeno on a Steeek. I bonded with him and he became my best friend. I loved him with all my heart and spoiled him like crazy. Jalapeno loved his Jalapeno cheetos, his toys, and his clothes. Two months after I decided that he was mine, my brother came back and said that he wanted him. I wouldn't let that happen. I had invested too much time effort and money into this buddy. Not to mention the love and affection that I felt for him was undying. On May 13th of this year, He started getting very sick. I thought he was going to be okay, but I was very scared for him. And I was very wrong that he would live his life. He bacame dehydrated even though I gave him water and chicken broth through a syringe. He would throw it back up and kept getting worse. on May 16th, I realized that he may have swallowed something and couldn't pass it. I took him to a vet only to find that the bill was far too much to pay. I took him home with a heavy heart and tried so hard to find other means of helping him. I tried talking to many different vets but none would show any compassion. That afternoon he bagan having malseizures. His head would shake back and forth and he would look at me as if saying "What's wrong with me daddy. I'm and Idon't know why. Help me." The vet had told me to take hime home and that he would have a 75% chance of making it over night. Later that evening, I was in my parents' guest bedroom playing with my nephew when I noticed Jalapeno start to convulse violently. He seized up. His head drew back and his mouth gaped open. I couldn't let him be like this. I broke my heart. On the ride back to the vet He had this look of terroron his face. I couldn't look at him. I didn't want to think about what was about to happen. I had to put him down. When I came back with my best friend that I would never see again, I found out that my nephew(three years old) had asked if he was dead. Now every time I go to see my parents, He always says "I miss my Jalapeno." I miss him too and am still upset over what happened. I'll never forget the way he looked at me on the way to his saving grace. Now I am lonely for that companionship and am desperatly seeking a moderatly young, lovable, energetic, and playful black and tan doxie.

I love you My Jalapeno.

Sleep in Peace

She was a long-haired dapple dachshund -- I told her I would give her all the records from the vet, but she said the 1 year guarantee was only 1 year from when the dog was born, not 1 year from when you had the dog. And even if she were to give me another dog for FREE I wouldn't take it because this experience really was scarring for me. Not to mention a huge financial burden (which I was happy to do to try and save my dog)... but still...

I am in the east tennessee area and my female bl/tan mini dachshund was stolen right out of my yard on april 9th right out of my yard while my children were out with them... If any one has purchased a female with a crook in the top of her tail please post or if you know of any one who has recently come to own one fitting this description...... I miss my Anna(banana):(

you wake up...if she was only interested in the money she would sell dogs for alot more money...and they have all their shots..so stop already we heard enough from you....and the only reason why you wanted her to talk to your vet is because they wouldn't give you the right papers saying that the dog was unfit....so please stop writing negative things abou them because they are not bad people...

Wake up! STASIO does not care about your puppy just the money she gets. I had begged her to talk to my Vet and she would not!

I bought 2 Dachshunds from Stasio and I am the happiest and luckiest person that I found such a responsible and caring breeder....I can not believe that she said she would take $100 off a new puppy what she does is she gives you $100 or better off when you buy 2 puppies and it doesnt't have to be @ the same time....just wondering did you give her your vets info so she could talk to them because she is defintitely not a person to do that...

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. When did this happen? What color and type was yours?(Bought puppy from Stasio)

I'm not sure who the person is who has been posting negative things about Stasio's Dachshunds, but I too had a horrible experience with them. I was the happiest gal in the world when I got my dog from them. It was an easy transaction, their home was clean, and they were very helpful. A week later she had Giardia which was expensive to treat, but I did it anyway. I let her know not because I was angry but because I was afraid the other dogs had it. She had a great life, I provided an amazing home for her. When she was a year and a half old I rushed her to the hospital because she was foaming at the mouth. While at the vet, she started having seizures. Over $6000 later and the most heart-wrenching experience I have ever been through, the vets determined she had a genetic brain disease and needed to be put to sleep. I contacted Liz and she told me should would give me $100 off a new puppy. HA! As if I would ever give her any more of my money. This could be an isolated incident, but please be careful when you buy from them.

Yeah I bought one of those peticure contraption. She will not let me do it. I even tried to coax her with a treat but no way. So that was a waste of money. The battery runs down really fast also. Thank you for the suggestion

There is this nail buffing battery operated contraption to file the nails down on your dog and it does not hurt. Check it out on-line.

Tomorrow is D Day for someone on this discussion board and I'll bet they know who they are. I said you were going down. Have a nice day!!!!!!!

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO HANDLE TRIMMING MY 13 YR OLD DACHSHUNDS NAILS. SHE REFUSES TO LET ME DO IT AND I THINK THE VET HURT HER SIDE THE LAST TIME THEY CUT THEM. I AM NOT SURE IF THEY HELD HER TOO TIGHT OR WHAT, HER NAILS NEED ATTENTION NOW BUT I DON'T WANT THEM TO HURT HER. WHAT CAN I DO?

I was so upset that I did get to come to the fest but my daughter who was supposed to drive was ill & I am not one to drive in the city. It was one of the most dissapointing days of my live. Luckily it turned out to be one of the best. I found a little dapple daschund for my Amber that day and took her home the next day. I named her Zoey. She is just the cutest and amber luvs to play with her.

Yes, enjoying doing my creative Dachshund Art

are you @ it again Prinny

Thanks for the info on Elizabeth Stasio who has been selling puppies without a licence.
I looked up on the site you gave and called the New York State Dept of Agriculture and Markets.
LIZ STASIO has NOT HAD A LICENSE SINCE 2007.
Only two years she was licenced and she had a UNSATISFACTORY INSPECTION
because she did not even have her own dogs vaccinated for rabies. Her website was just up a few weeks ago.
So you are right. SHE HAS BEEN SELLING ILLEGALLY and WITHOUT ANY HEALTH INSPECTIONS.
STASIO HAS NO REGARD FOR THE LAW.

her website is down because she has no puppies right now and she had a license and she did not renew it yet because she does not have any puppies...so stop writing false accusations becuse you do not know what you are talking about..stop writing her name because we all know this is one person and one person only...and she is a great BREEDER..she hasn't been caught doing anything..her house and her puppies were in great health and has a veery clean house..if she didn't you would not have bought a puppy from her...

DO NOT BUT PUPPIES FROM THIS SO CALLED "BREEDER" Elizabeth Stasio. SHE HAS BEEN LIEING TO THE PUBLIC FOR YEARS. SHE IS NOT LICENCED!! Now that she has been caught she's taken down her website.

My lovable 2 year old doxie named Paolo has a fetish for tearing-up any soft toys or arm chairs, even though he has many other chew toys. We removed furniture from the room where he lives and plays. Has anyone had success in training their doxie not to chew soft toys and/or furniture? We use bitter apple spray but to no avail.

Love the site.

As I was scanning your website I found a picture of Nathan and Jasper. Jasper was my dog but I gave him to my cousin, Alan. It's nice to see that he is now "famous". What a sweet Doxie he was/is. I miss him. I now have two beautiful Doxie boys (Ace and Reeno).

The correct way to carry a dachshund is your arm under the sturnum to the right or left jaw. Or rather...hold left or right arm like an X across their chest. Let their feet find a place on your hip if they are big enough so they feel like they have some comtrol. Never pick up a dachshund by their arms or even let a dachchund continually jump up on a dog gate and strain to get over something with their from arm. They will sprain and pull a muscle in their neck. Any time that you feel their muscles pull against you there is a risk of pulling a muscle. Their torsos are elongated and muscles can get harmed and you not even realize why they are just irritable. The solution for a pulled muscle in a dog is to take them to the chiropractor. Call them ahead of time and make an appt! It should not cost but what it would cost you to get a re-adjustment! Mine charges $10 and it takes like 10 mins and the dog absolutly loves it! The way to correct a dog peeing and acting submissive is to put a talking book on tape or cd where they sleep. A calming voice playing over and over will make them realize that all voices and people are comforting. I know it sounds strange but it is the noises that make them submit. Like when you come in the door they are unsure if what is going to "happen next." The continual playing of a tape will make them to calm down and find a stable sound to make them secure.

yes i love your website.... what is the date of the fall festival in NYC for doxies?? thanks . marsha maphilli@verizon.net

Question-does anyone have a good suggestion for correcting submissive urination? Our mini-longhaired "doxcy" is almost 4 and continues to have a urination problem whenever she gets excited.
